Advent: Joy of Every Longing Heart

Advent: Joy of Every Longing Heart Advent is a Latin word meaning “coming” or “arrival.” It is the season each year where we enter into the longing of history, Scripture, and all humanity for the coming of Christ our King. We look back on his first coming, the gift of Christmas, and look forward to his return. Throughout the history of the church, Christians have set aside the few weeks leading up to Christmas to have their hearts formed and renewed by stepping into the longing of Christ’s arrival. This year, we will focus on the traditional themes of Advent and how they are developed throughout the Old Testament: Hope, Peace, Joy, & Love.
